11/1/23 8:25am MT - After further testing and a week of the Canvas release in production without reports of any related issues, we have concluded that the 10-25-23 Canvas release has had no impact on any DesignPLUS features.
10/20/23 1:55pm MT - We've concluded a preliminary round of testing in our beta environment and have not discovered any conflicts or issues within the legacy or new DesignPLUS code. We plan to take another pass just to confirm and be extra thorough.
10/16/23 12:50pm MT - Canvas sent a message to admin users this morning regarding changes in their October 25 release. The message warns that the changes will likely impact custom CSS and JS and asks users to verify that customizations are working in the beta environment. This has led many Cidi Labs DesignPLUS users to inquire about the possibility of the October 25th deployment interfering with DesignPLUS.
When looking at the changes outlined in Github, it does not appear that any of these changes to InstUI will affect DesignPLUS. DesignPLUS does not rely on the InstUI library to build or style pages so changes like this will rarely impact the sidebar or content created with DesignPLUS. However, it is possible it may limit our ability to pull in a page title or provide functionality like sortable rubrics or student cards.
We will be conducting thorough testing in our beta environment to confirm if the Canvas changes will have any impact. Updates related to our testing will be posted to this support notice. We anticipate the testing will be done no later than Friday, October 20th.
Cidi Labs is responsive as Canvas makes changes and we maintain the DesignPLUS CSS/JS code that is loaded into your Canvas instance. For more information, please visit this article: How does Cidi Labs respond when Canvas makes changes?
