UDOIT scans most of the HTML-based content within your Canvas course to identify accessibility issues that may affect students. While it covers the majority of common content types, there are a few exceptions.
Where can UDOIT scan within your Canvas content?
UDOIT scans the HTML of your Canvas content to look for accessibility issues that could cause trouble for your students. Below are the content types within which UDOIT will scan:
- Announcements
- Assignments
- Classic Quiz descriptions (see below)
- Discussion descriptions (see below)
- Pages
- Syllabus
- Module URLs
These areas make up the bulk of content created directly in Canvas using the Rich Content Editor (RCE), which is why UDOIT can analyze them.
Is there any Canvas content UDOIT does not scan?
While the list above will likely cover the majority of your Canvas content, there are a few areas in which UDOIT cannot currently scan.
Discussion Replies
Currently, while UDOIT can scan within the description area of discussion posts for accessibility issues, discussion replies are not scanned.

Classic Quiz Questions & Question Banks
While UDOIT does scan the description/instructions area of Canvas Classic Quizzes, due to API limitations, it does not scan quiz questions or question banks.
New Quizzes
At this time, UDOIT does not scan Canvas' New Quizzes. New Quizzes is currently an LTI tool without existing open API calls.
As soon as the New Quiz feature is fully released by Canvas and the APIs are available, we will begin to research integration with our Cidi Labs products.
