The Cidi Labs YouTube API integration has a limited number of requests it can make per day (our daily quota) before YouTube cuts off access. Cidi Labs has implemented an internal cache that saves YouTube API responses for up to a month after the video is first scanned. Additionally, Cidi Labs caches the response for 5 minutes during the scanning process. This helps prevent the same video used in multiple places in the same course or multiple courses in the institution from using up a significant chunk of the daily quota.
If there are changes to the captions of one of your YouTube videos, and UDOIT isn't recognizing that change, you can force it to bypass the cache and ask YouTube for the captions directly. There are two ways to do this:
- In the UFIXIT tab, open the Review window for the video in question and click the "Scan Video for Caption Updates" button. (Recommended)
- Initiate a Full Rescan by going to the Kebab Menu and clicking on "Full Rescan". (Note that this can take some time to complete.)
If you want a custom YouTube API Key for your institution, see the UDOIT Admin Guide: Generate Your Own YouTube API Key.
