How is Cidi Labs approaching the use of AI?

Overview of our AI principles and commitments

Cidi Labs is excited to begin offering AI-assisted functionality to the products you know and love. Our AI service leverages state-of-the-art (SOTA) models, such as those from OpenAI, and incorporates the Cidi Labs team's extensive expertise in course design and accessibility best practices.

Cidi Labs uses artificial intelligence (AI) to help educators and instructional designers work more efficiently within their learning management systems. Our AI-enabled features are designed to support human expertise, not replace it.

Our AI service is designed with flexibility in mind, allowing us to utilize multiple large language models (LLMs) and dynamically select the most appropriate one for each specific tool or task, ensuring optimal performance and results.

Our Commitments

Transparency

We clearly identify AI-enabled features within our products and provide information about the AI technologies used whenever appropriate. AI functionalities can be enabled or disabled based on your institution-level settings.

Privacy & Data Protection

Protecting customer, educator, and student data is a top priority. AI features operate in accordance with our privacy practices, applicable educational privacy requirements, and relevant data protection laws. We do not store any user personally identifiable information (PII) in our AI models or services, and any data processed is stripped of identifying information to ensure anonymity.

Customer Ownership of Data

Customers retain ownership of their content. We do not use customer content to train third-party AI models without appropriate disclosure and safeguards. Our AI is trained on data and knowledge derived from our team's extensive knowledge and publicly available information.

Human Oversight

AI-generated content and recommendations are intended to assist users. Important decisions should remain under human review and control.

Accuracy & Responsibility

AI can make mistakes or generate incomplete information. Users should review AI-generated outputs and apply their professional judgment before relying on them.

Fairness & Security

We strive to use AI responsibly by considering potential bias, promoting equitable outcomes, and applying security controls designed to protect institutional and student information.

Continuous Improvement

As AI technology and regulations evolve, Cidi Labs will continue to evaluate and improve our practices to support responsible, trustworthy, and effective use of AI in education.
