How Can I Use ReadyGO To Manage Peer Course Reviews?

ReadyGO streamlines peer course reviews by organizing course batches, tracking review progress, and ensuring faculty receive actionable insights. Institutions can facilitate an efficient and transparent peer review system.

Step 1: Assemble a Peer Review Team in ReadyGO

Form a ReadyGO team responsible for managing and tracking the peer review process. This team will oversee faculty participation, ensure alignment with institutional quality standards, and support reviewers with structured evaluation tools.

Suggested Team Members:

  • Faculty Reviewers
  • Department Chairs or Program Coordinators
  • Instructional Designers
  • Academic Affairs Representatives
  • Online Learning or eLearning Support Staff

Step 2: Create a ReadyGO Batch for Courses Undergoing Peer Review

Set up a dedicated ReadyGO Batch for courses scheduled for peer review during the current cycle. This batch will keep the review process organized and ensure all courses move through the evaluation stages efficiently.

Step 3: Create a New ReadyGO Status

Establish a unique ReadyGO Status for tracking the peer review step within your course lifecycle management. This ensures clarity and consistency during the process. You could give this status a name such as "Pending Peer Review".

Step 4: Build a ReadyGO Checklist for Peer Course Reviews

Develop a ReadyGO Checklist to standardize peer review criteria and ensure faculty receive structured feedback. Consider setting this checklist to "view only" in the Instructor Tool. This will allow instructors to have visibility into the process.

Remember to add the Instructor Tool to this Batch within the Courses Table of ReadyGO to make sure instructors can view the checklist and communicate with the ReadyGO Review Team!

Peer Review Checklist Tasks to Consider:

  • Course structure and navigation are clear – Content is well-organized and follows a logical sequence.
  • Learning objectives are measurable and aligned – Course goals match assessments and instructional activities.
  • Assessments provide meaningful feedback opportunities – Assignments, quizzes, and discussions align with learning outcomes.
  • Instructor presence is evident – Regular engagement through announcements, feedback, or discussions is demonstrated.
  • Student engagement strategies are incorporated – Active learning elements such as discussions, group work, or interactive content are present.
  • Accessibility and usability standards are met – Content follows WCAG guidelines and is easy to navigate.
  • Use of instructional materials is appropriate – Readings, videos, and external tools support course objectives.
  • Alignment with institutional course quality standards – Course meets internal guidelines or accreditation expectations.

Tailor checklists to align with institutional policies or faculty development goals. What goals have landed on your Peer Review Checklist? We'd love to add them to this list!

Step 5: Create a Dedicated Quick View for Peer Review Tracking

Set up a ReadyGO Quick View to provide reviewers with a starting point for reviewing. Start with the columns on the ReadyGO Preset Quick View.  Then add columns based on the key initiatives at your institution.  These may include details like Discussion Count, Announcement Count, and Assignment Count. Or, perhaps includes items from other Cidi Labs tools your institution licenses such as UDOIT or TidyUP.

Step 6: Set Up ReadyGO Alerts to Track Peer Review Progress

Create ReadyGO Alerts to automatically flag courses that may require attention in the peer review process.

  • If student engagement strategies are a key focus, an alert could flag courses that lack active learning elements such as discussions.
  • If instructor presence is a key focus you could set alerts for things like total instructor activity, or announcement count.

You Can Do It!

ReadyGO makes it easier to manage peer course reviews, ensuring faculty receive structured feedback and have clear pathways for course improvement. By following these steps, you’ll have the tools to streamline the review process, promote instructional quality, keep faculty engagement on track, and customize your efforts to your institution's needs!
