Updating the task runner role permissions

If you installed Cidiscape before September 15, 2023, your task runner user may not have the permissions needed to complete some UDOIT/TidyUP actions

When Cidiscape was first released, the task runner role only required these permissions:

  • Course Content - view
  • Courses - view list
  • Announcements - view
  • Discussions - view

After a release in September, the task runner role now requires these additional permissions for some UDOIT/TidyUP actions:

  • Course Files - add
  • Course Files - edit
  • Course Files - delete

If you installed Cidiscape before September 15, it is likely that your task runner role is missing these permissions.  Please note that updating these permissions is not necessary if you only use the DesignPLUS product; these updates are only for some UDOIT and TidyUP actions.

Instructions to Update

To update your task runner role's permission, follow these instructions:

  1. Go to the account where your task runner role was created (root by default)
  2. Go to Permissions
  3. Choose Account Roles
  4. Find the role called "Cidiscape Task Runner" and click it
  5. Choose to edit the role by clicking the pencil button
  6. Enable the following permissions:
    1. Course Files - add
    2. Course Files - edit
    3. Course Files - delete
  7. Now go to the account Settings and choose the Admins tab.  You will remove and re-add the task runner user with the updated role:
    1. Remove the Cidiscape Task Runner from the list of admins.
    2. Click + Account Admins and add the Cidiscape Task Runner user with the updated Cidiscape Task Runner role.
