Why are there color discrepancies in some legacy themes when they are upgraded?

We have discovered some minor color discrepancies when some legacy themes are upgraded to the new sidebar CSS. As these are discovered they will be documented in this KBA.

We are updating the new sidebar CSS to accurately match the same colors for legacy themes so that there are no changes in color on upgrade.  This means that any new sidebar page designs that are currently using these legacy themes will experience a sudden change in those colors.  

If this poses a problem, users can set the colors back to what they were previously by utilizing certain advanced sidebar tools such as Custom Banner Title, Custom Headings, Custom Link Grid, or Style Editor.

If inline styling or custom CSS classes are being used, these color changes will not override those custom styles.

 

Here are those changes (so far) in the new CSS to match legacy CSS:

  • Bookmark 1 (release 12/12)

    • h3 headings

      • background from gray to primary

    • banner title subtitle

      • background from secondary to accent

  • Bookmark 2 (release 12/12)

    • banner title subtitle

      • background from gray to accent

  • Basic Color 2 (release 12/12)

    • h3 heading icons

      • color from primary-dark-text to secondary-dark-text

    • banner title subtitle

      • color from black to secondary-dark-text

  • Basic Bar 1 (released)

    • h3 headings

      • bottom border color from primary to primary-dark-text

  • Basic Bar 2 (released)

    • h3 headings

      • bottom border color from primary to secondary-dark-text

    • h3 heading icons

      • color from primary to secondary-dark-text

    • banner title subtitle

      • color and border to secondary-dark-text

  • Rounded Corners (released)

    • headings

      • border from graybg to gray

    • h3 headings

      • background from graybg (or white for customers that never had legacy Design Tools installed) to gray

    • banner title prefix

      • background from secondary to white

      • color from secondary-contrast to black

  • Rounded Corners 2 (released)

    • h3 headings

      • border from graybg to primary

      • background from graybg (or white for customers that never had legacy Design Tools installed) to primary

    • banner title subtitle

      • background from graybg to accent
