Why can't I use the Custom Banner Title, Link Grid, and Headings tools on legacy themes?

If a legacy theme is applied to a page, the Custom Banner Title, Custom Link Grid, and Custom Headings tool will not override the legacy styles. This is because the legacy styles use CSS that overrides the custom Theme tools.

The styles of previous legacy themes will not be overridden if you use the custom Theme using the Custom Banner Title, Custom Link Grid, and/or Custom Headings tools.

Rather, we recommend applying those styles to a blank Banner Title, Link Grid, or page without a Theme applied. You can remove the Theme from an individual tool before building a custom style.

To remove a Theme from a Banner Title, Link Grid, or Banner Image:

  1. Place your cursor in the appropriate theme element.
  2. Make sure you are in the Edit Current Element tab.
  3. Choose the Banner TitleLink Grid, or Image option as the active tool.

  4. In the Action Toolbar, select the  Clear Styles button.

If you would like the theme to be similar to a legacy Banner Title, Link Grid, or Heading style, we recommend building a similar legacy-style theme using the custom tools.
