Institutions installed pre-2018 may be using an older version of the Primary Customizations course
In September 2018, we began implementing some customizations course content, including Themes, Banner Images, and CSS colors for default themes, differently.
Some users may notice these differences in other instances and request that their customizations courses be updated to include the new template content pages added for newer installations. Changes to the customizations course will not automatically change any existing Design Tools content. The primary action that will trigger changes to existing content is selecting a different theme from the Choose a Theme panel. The sidebar will display additional options based on the updated customizations course, including new and improved themes, an institutionally-defined default color palette in the Basic and Advanced Colors tools, and greater control of sidebar content, so users can expect to see a slightly different interface. The way that we now use CSS variables to add institutional branding to themes means that users do not have to write complicated color overrides themselves.
