While using the Upgrade tool, there may be some slight changes in the Themes. These small changes are expected.
We, here, at Cidi Labs updated the entire codebase for the DesignPLUS sidebar. As part of that update, new features have been added, and the styling now references a new library that better aligns with today's Web Standards.
This means that upgrades between Themes will not be a pixel-per-pixel match.
All of the functionality of the original theme should be intact in its new version.
If you experience an issue with the function of a theme (i.e., icons are covering text), please contact our support team at support@cidilabs.com or fill out our Support Form.
Font Size
The change in font size is due to the transition from px and pt font sizes to em and rem font sizes. These font size adjustments are applied to allow for more accessibility. For more information on changes in font size, see this Article: Why does font size change when I use the Upgrade tool?
The font sizes of specific elements can be manually adjusted using the Text panel of the Style Editor.
For more information on using the Style Editor, see the DesignPLUS User Guide: Style Editor.
Padding Differences
If you notice slight changes in padding and alignment after using the Upgrade tool, this is expected. Some margins and padding were removed and added to simplify the structure of the page. These tiny changes in padding are primarily noticeable while using the Upgrade tool.
The margins and padding of specific elements can also be adjusted using the Spacing & Alignment panel of the Style Editor.
Comparison of Themes
Here are some comparisons of common legacy vs new sidebar themes. Please note, due to technical and resource limitations, as well as updates to web standards since the legacy themes were developed, certain things will not be changed to match the old theme.
